This Contest is intended for viewing and participation in the United States only and shall be evaluated and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. This Contest is restricted to entrants who are legal residents of and reside within the 50 United States and District of Columbia and who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entering the Contest.

Tip of the Week Contest Official Rules

Money Matters, Tip of the Week Contest (the "Contest") starts on November 1, 2011 at 8:30AM Central Time ("CT") and ends on December 22, 2011 at 5:00PM CT ("Contest Period").

1. NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING.

2. Sponsor: Alliant Credit Union ("ACU") is the sponsor of this Contest and is headquartered at 11545 W. Touhy Avenue, Chicago, IL 60666. ("Sponsor").

3. Eligibility: The Contest is open to individuals that of which:

  • a. Is a legal resident of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, excluding U.S. territories; and
  • b. Is 18 years of age or older at the time of entry; and
  • c. Is willing to comply in full with these Official Rules and all other terms and conditions of the Contest; and
  • d. Is not excluded from eligibility by these Official and/or the other terms and conditions of the Contest; and
  • e. Each individual ("Entrant") must be willing to sign an affidavit attesting to the truth of all facts stated in such Entrants entry and accompanying materials and further attesting to the fact that all eligibility requirements stated above and herein are met.
  • f. Employees of the Sponsor, its Board of Directors and family members of the same household are not eligible for Contest.
  • g. Understands their entry will be publicly available on the Internet and elsewhere both during and after the Contest Period, and is willing to make it available and give authorization to use the winner's video, tip ("Tip"), other likeness and name without compensation.
  • h. Understands that all entries become the property of Sponsor and may be used in any way and on any medium, electronic or otherwise, as deemed appropriate by Sponsor.

4. Sponsor's Discretion: Any reference in these Official Rules or as part of the Contest to Sponsor's "discretion" and/or any exercise of discretion by Sponsor shall mean in Sponsor's "sole and unfettered discretion."

5. How To Enter: The Contest will begin on November 1, 2011 at 8:30AM CT and stop on November 30, 2011 at 5:00PM CT ("Submission Period"). No further entries will be accepted after that time. During the Submission Period, Entrants must visit the Alliant Credit Union Facebook Fan Page ("Entry Site") to enter. To enter, you must:

  • a. Submit an original video under 1024MB and under 20 minutes in length sharing a financial Tip that has helped you with money matters, such as saving money, preparing for retirement, paying down debt, etc.
  • b. Register and/or create an account or log in to Facebook and go to the Alliant Credit Union Facebook Fan Page and click the Money Matters Tab,
  • c. Like the Alliant Credit Union Facebook page,
  • d. Follow the directions provided to complete the entry form (all such information being referenced herein, individually and collectively, as an "Entry"):
    • i. Valid name of Entrant submitting the Entry
    • ii. Valid mailing and/or email address and telephone number for contact and notice purposes

There are two options to upload videos: Facebook and YouTube. In order for videos uploaded through Facebook to display correctly, the Facebook privacy settings for videos must be set to "Everyone" when uploaded. Videos uploaded through YouTube must have a new file name or risk triggering a YouTube privacy notice.

Each entry (whether complete or incomplete, singular or duplicate) is and shall be at all times remain Sponsor's property as to the time submitted and will not be returned or acknowledged.

Entries must be submitted via the Entry Site as instructed above. If an Entrant has problems uploading, please contact us at talk2us@alliantcreditunion.com. If an Entrant is having difficulties, the Entrant must contact the Sponsor before the end of the Submission Period, and the Sponsor is not responsible for resolving any technical difficulties in time for the end of the Submission Period.

6. Entry Requirements & Clearances: All of the below requirements and criteria are collectively referred to as the "Requirements & Clearances."

  • a. Automatic Disqualification: If an Entry does not effectively meet the Requirements & Clearances, the Sponsor will disqualify and discard the Entry either immediately or at any time during the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Entry that does not meet the Official Rules and the Requirements & Clearances.
  • b. Publicity Release: By entering the Contest, the Entrant consents to the use of all information in the Entry, including, without limitation, Entrant's name, likeness, city of residence, video, financial tip and other information, for any and all publicity or promotional purposes as Sponsor may select in its discretion which may include, but is not limited to press releases, updates and/or articles for publication in Alliant newsletters(s), website, social media profiles, newsletters, trade magazines, etc.
  • c. No Infringement: The content of the Entry must not infringe any person's or entity's rights (including, without limitation, intellectual property rights) in any way, including without limitation, any copyrights, trademarks, logos, company names, labels, symbols, store or building facades, music, photography, works of art, or images that have been created, distributed, aired or published in any media.
  • d. No Name and Likeness Without Permission: Unless Entrant has received express prior written permission (and retains and is willing and able to produce to Sponsor upon request a copy of such permission) for use in connection with the Contest, an Entry must not include any individual's name (other than that of the Entrant), in whole or in part, refer to public figures, or contain materials embodying the names, likenesses, photographs or other identifying elements of any person, living or dead.
  • e. Obtain Third-Party Releases: If the Entry contains materials or elements that are not owned by Entrant and/or are subject to any rights of any third parties, Entrant is responsible for obtaining any and all releases and consents in writing necessary to permit the use and exhibition of the Entry by Sponsor in the manner set forth in these Official Rules, including, without limitation, name and likeness releases for any person who appears in or is identifiable in the Entry, prior to submission of the Entry.
  • f. No Illegal, Offensive or Inappropriate Content: The Entry must not include content which, in the discretion of the Sponsor, constitutes or contains:
    • i. Any words, images or statements that are or could be considered offensive to individuals on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability status, veteran status or any other class or characteristic protected from discrimination by the laws of the United States or individual state within the United States, or that promote bigotry, racism, hatred, harm or discrimination against any such individuals;
    • ii. Any threat (real or perceived) to any person, place, business, group or entity; and
    • iii. Any materials that depict illegal acts or that are sexually explicit, libelous, obscene, violent, hateful, slanderous or defamatory;
    • iv. Any other inappropriate content that includes, but is not limited to, any display of smoking, alcohol, illegal drugs, firearms, harming of animals, nudity, or provocative/suggestive outfits or poses; or
    • v. Any content not in keeping with Sponsor's reputation and image.

7. Winner Determination: Visitors to the Entry Site will be given an opportunity to vote on Entries from December 1, 2011 at 8:30AM CT to December 22, 2011 at 5:00PM CT ("Voting Period"). Anyone may vote, and an Entrant may vote for his/her own Entry; provided, however that:

  • a. Voters must either register and create an account or log in to Facebook to vote;
  • b. Like the Alliant Credit Union Facebook page;
  • c. Agree to the Contest application terms and conditions;
  • d. Electronic or automatically generated voting is not allowed;
  • e. Only one per person (meaning one vote per Facebook profile) per day is allowed.

Sponsor encourages voters to judge entries based on the same criteria set for becoming a Finalist set forth in these Official Rules.

The Entry with the highest number of votes at the end of the Voting Period will be deemed the Grand Prize Winner, the entry with the next-highest scores will be deemed the First and Second Prize Winners. Alliant Credit Union reserves the right to follow the voting results or exercise discretion over the winners in the event that the entry with the most votes is deemed ineligible to win.

Votes obtained by any fraudulent or inappropriate means, including, without limitation, offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public, payment for votes or offering to trade votes, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, may result in those votes being void and the Finalist being disqualified.

In the event of a tie, a panel of judges selected by Alliant Credit Union and consisting of Alliant Credit Union employees will judge tied Entries. For Wisconsin residents only, in the event of a tie, duplicate prizes will be awarded.

8. Prizes: There is one (1) Grand Prize to be awarded, one (1) First Prize and one (1) Second Prize in the Contest, with a retail value of One Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars and No Cents ($1,750).

ONE (1) GRAND PRIZE: One (1) One Thousand Dollars and No Cents ($1,000) and Tip featured as the Tip of the Week at www.alliantcreditunion.org/news/tipoftheweek, valued at One Thousand Dollars and No Cents ($1,000), will be awarded to the Entrant whose Entry, after eliminating any disqualified Entries or Entrants, received the most votes from the public.

ONE (1) FIRST PRIZE: One (1) Five Hundred Dollars and No Cent ($500) will be awarded to the Entrant whose Entry, after eliminating any disqualified Entries or Entrants, received the most second highest votes from the public.

ONE (1) SECOND PRIZE: One (1) Two Hundred Dollar and No Cent ($250) will be awarded to the Entrant whose Entry, after eliminating any disqualified Entries or Entrants, received the most third highest votes from the public.

Prizes will be awarded on or about the week after the contest ends. No substitutions will be made for prizes. Prizes are nontransferable. If lost or stolen, prizes will not be replaced. Sponsor reserves the right to revoke and/or substitute any or all prizes. Failure to accept a prize within thirty (30) days of notification of award constitutes forfeiture of the prize. If forfeited, the prize will remain the property of the Sponsor, and another Entrant will not be selected.

9. Expenses, taxes, fees: All expenses not specifically mentioned herein are not included and are solely each Entrants responsibility. Winners are responsible for any tax liability.

10. Odds: Odds of winning are dependent upon the total number of entries and votes received.

11. Verification Of Winners And Delivery Of Prizes: After voting has finished, the potential prize winners will be notified in accordance with the contact information provided at time of Entry, mail, email or other method chosen by Sponsor in its discretion by Friday, January 9, 2012. Sponsor reserves the right to verify prize winner collectively or one or more at a time, as it deems appropriate and expedient in its discretion, and in whatever order it chooses. To be confirmed as a prize winner and to be awarded the prize, Entrant will be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility and a release ("Required Documents") which will be provided by Sponsor.

Should a prize notification or prize addressed to a particular Entrant be returned as undeliverable, Sponsor will not be obligated to resend the notice, research the Entrant's address nor make any further attempts at delivery. That Entrant will be deemed disqualified and no other Entrant will be chosen.

Winners will be announced after the Required Documents are received and the respective winners are confirmed. Sponsor reserves the right to announce prize winners collectively, one at a time, or in any order or clusters as it deems appropriate in its discretion, expect the Grand Prize will be announced within thirty (30) days of the date on which the Required Documents are received from the winner. Winners will receive their prize within thirty (30) days of Sponsor's announcement of the winners.

12. Decision: Decisions by Sponsor will be binding and conclusive on all matters. By participating in this Contest, Entrants agree to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules, and to accept the decisions of Sponsor as final. Entrants agree to hold Sponsor and each of its officers, directors, employees, members and representatives, and agents harmless from any liability arising from participation in this Contest and/or the acceptance of any prizes. Sponsor and each of it officers, directors, employees, members and representatives, and agents are not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, undeliverable, illegible, or incomplete Entries, whether due to the system, errors or failures, faulty transmission or other telecommunication malfunctions, votes not received resulting from any hardware or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, failed, incomplete or garbled computer or telephone transmissions, typographical or system errors and failures, technical malfunctions, spam filters, or otherwise. Sponsor may prohibit Entrants from participating in the Contest if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said Entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair playing practices (including the use of automated quick entry programs) or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other Entrants or Sponsor. If for any reason this Contest is not able to be conducted as planned, including, but not limited to, by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, authorized intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, then Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS' FEES) FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT FOR THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.

13. Grant Of Rights: By submitting an Entry, Entrant represents and warrants that submission of the entry for all other individuals included in the video and that the submitting individual has the rights necessary to commit the other individuals to all of the obligations, warranties, representations and other terms and conditions stated in the Official Rules. Entrant irrevocably assigns and transfers to Sponsor all rights, titles and interest in the Entry and all information and materials contained herein or attached hereto, including, without limitation, all copyrights, and all rights incidental, subsidiary, ancillary or allied thereto (including, without limitation, all moral rights and all derivative rights), for exploitation throughout the universe, in perpetuity, by means of any and all media and devices whether now know or hereafter devised. For all personal rights, such as publicity rights, or any other rights that Entrant cannot irrevocably assign to Sponsor ("Personal Rights"), Entrant hereby grants to Sponsor a nonexclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, transferrable license, but not obligation, to use any such Personal Rights for the purpose of this Contest without any further compensation other than the opportunity to win one of the Prizes listed. Entrant agrees to execute any documents that Sponsor may require to affect such transfer of right without any compensation or consideration other than entry to the Contest as specified in these Official Rules.

14. No Obligation To Use: Other than to announce the prize winners, Sponsor shall have no obligation (express or implied) to use any Entry or any information or materials contained therein or attached thereto, regardless of whether or not a prize winning Entry, in any advertising, merchandising or promotion or to otherwise distribute, publicize or exploit any Entry, regardless of whether or not a prize winning Entry, or if commenced, to continue the distribution, publication or exploitation thereof, and Sponsor may at any time abandon the use of any Entry, regardless of whether or not a prize winning Entry, for any reason, with or without legal justification, and neither Entrants nor prize winners shall be entitled to any damages or other relief by reason thereof.

15. Privacy Policy: By entering the Contest, Entrants agree to Sponsor's use of their personal information as described in these Official Rules.

16. Compliance: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the participant and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the substantive laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its choice of law provisions.

17. Dispute Resolution: Except where prohibited by law, as a condition of participating in this Contest, all Entrants agree that (1) any and all disputes and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Contest drawing or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by final and binding arbitration under of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and held at the AAA regional office nearest Chicago, Illinois; (2) the laws of the State of Illinois will govern the enforcement and all proceedings at such arbitration; and (3) judgment upon such arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction. Under no circumstances will any Entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and each participant or Entrant waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental or consequential damages, or other damages, including attorneys' fees, other actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. costs associated with entering the Contest), and waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased under any federal or state law.

18. Miscellaneous: This Contest is void where prohibited. Sponsor may substitute prizes of equivalent value, amend the rules or discontinue the Contest at any time. Sponsor reserves the right to eliminate a participant's involvement and all votes cast through the Contest if Sponsor, in its sole discretion, determines the participant is not abiding by these Official Rules or otherwise acting in an unsportsmanlike or inappropriate manner.

19. Results: A list of the Contest results can be obtained by sending a self-addressed stamped to Alliant Credit Union, Money Matters, P.O. Box 66945, Chicago, IL 60666-0945.

20. Other Promotions: Please note, Sponsor may be running similar promotions in the future. Your Entry into this Contest is for this Contest only, and you must enter each of any future contests separately, and in accordance with any rules, terms or conditions applicable thereto.
